Since the celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812, with the support of The Ontario Trillium Foundation, Young Imaginations has partnered with schools in the Hastings, Prince Edward and Frontenac Counties to bring elementary students of all ages a program that brings this integral moment in Canadian history alive through drama and the arts.Young Imaginations brings a creative Canadian history program to schools using drama, dance, visual arts and music. The program is designed to fit the needs of elementary students at different levels: Primary Level students will step inside early Canadian history at the time of the 1812 War and meet the brave and courageous Laura Secord. Junior Level students will discover the extraordinary skill and bravery of Tecumseh during the battles of the War of 1812. Intermediate Level students will meet Sir Isaac Brock one of Canada’s heroes from the War of 1812 and one of Britain’s military geniuses. Through the eyes of Jeremy from the novel Jeremy’s War 1812 by John Ibbitson, students will experience this extraordinary time in Canadian history.
